Hey I pulled my trans because I was having problems after my clutch install, thinking it was the fork, and I was right. There was a clasp that wasn't clipped. Its circled in the pic. Now, do I just clip that under the little ledge on the fork itself, or is there a ball or something on the bellhousing or something that goes in there and then you clip it? It looks like a ball would fit in there, but I can't find it.

That looks normal to me. The part you have circled slides diagonally onto and off of the throwout bearing. It pivots on a mounting bolt within your circle, which mounts facing rearward into the tranny. The hump on the clasp aids in keeping the fork in contact with the t.o. bearing. If i am wrong, please correct me.

PS: Oil leak somethin fierce, huh? Good luck...

I am confused. When i replaced my t56, i purchased a new clutch fork. And as i remember, the little 'clasp' came attached to the fork already. The clasp we are referring to is the thin piece of metal with the little hump in it, right? If so, it looks as if it is installed correctly in the pic. Update: I rechecked your photo, and found a better pic in a reply to your more recent post (pic by TW95z). The clasp again is used to hold the fork in contact with the T.O. bearing. If you refer to the newer pic, you can see better. The two prongs will slide over the mounting bolt block. Dont pry them under. Dry fit by sliding the fork in the direction of the pass. airbag, up and to the side. The clasp should slide over the little block and provide minor holding power. This is the only way it will work. If your clasp is screwed up, see if you can re-bend to provide a little holding power. If you are comfortable with its performance, i think the PN for a new one is 12523312 (recheck that), and it goes for about 40 bucks. PLease let me know if i helped or hurt any, and if i could help in the future, let me know. Thanks man, good luck. It doesnt seem like a big issue though. Once you get the tranny completely bolted up, you slide the fork up, and attach the slave cylinder. Keep me posted.

Are you sure the clasp goes over the block? Because that's how I installed it the first time, and I had no pedal reserve. The clutch wasn't completely disengaging. And when I dry fit the fork with the clasp under the block (when the trans was on the floor) it seemed like that would be the solution to my problem.

There is a T shaped bolt thingy holding the fork to the tranny. Once the tranny's in, slide the fork ont the TO bearing. The two metal clips on the fork should clip onto the T bolt.

You have to study the pic in your other post, How do you get clutch fork on properly??
If you study the clasp, you can see it woudl slide over the block, providing a resting area underneath for the block.The twin half moons in the clasp act as the lock. Your pic is a little blurry, and the grime makes everything blend. The clasp in your photo may be broken, i cannot really tell. Keep it coming, glad to help.

Yes dynomight has described it.

I also hope that while you've have things this apart you did fix whatever oil leak(s) you have. If you didn't you'll have to replace your new clutch real fast. I had to do my rear main seal and oil pan gasket when I did my clutch.

Well, ok, I'm going to put everything back together and make sure those clips are on correctly. Before I installed the new clutch, I fixed the intake (leaking oil) and the rear main seal (also leaking oil). So this clutch should last.

Does anyone know what would cause the clutch not to fully disengage? because the reason its apart this time is because it was engaging about an inch off the floor last time, and it was hard to get into gears, and would even grind sometimes.
