you know how much money slp would make if they sold there oem hoods to guys without a true ss, and wanted a good hood on there cars, instead of all this aftermarket crap

The part number is brand new, and I'm fairly certain it is the OEM SS hood.

As i understand it GM Gave release to all that and it can be sold...

A few years back you would have to return your damaged SS Hood... ????

You would have to have the accident filed with the police and all that.. VIN and yes Proof of purchase... but anyhow... its not needed anymore

I paid $717.00 + shipping for mine from a GM dealer. It should be here next week. I called other places for pricing and I found it ranged from what I paid to $1,800.00! It seems the dealers are charging whatever they can get for the thing.

I'm not certain what the details of the agreement were with SLP, but for whatever reason, GM is now selling the same SMC SS hood you could previously get from SLP. And yes, you had to have a VIN confirming you had an SS, return your old hood, give up your first born, and pay through the *** for a replacement SS hood.

It must be a relatively new release...the parts departments at dealers I called did not even have the part number in their database. They all had to call their regional parts managers, and SLP, to confirm that the number existed, and that the hood could now be purchased.

Possibly the same thing for the wheels/centercaps now?

i had to send in a copy of my title to get my new hood ( some one ran into my car in a parking lot) and it was expensive *** heck. GM i dont think ever had rights to that hood because when the SS's were bought new in 96 and 97 there were 2 check writen on to GM for a Z28 and one to SLP to make it an SS. your dealership wont have a part number because a GM part number doesnt exsist for that hood. but less than a year ago this is the way it was.
