OBD1/high stall problem...New Times

Hey people,

I just got back from the track after FINALLY running on my new setup. My previous best times were 14.1 @ 97 (Before Stall and Trans) The reason those times were so terrible was because my trans was slipping, and the race trans i bought from Trey made a huge difference Here's the best slip:

RT - .944
60' - 2.010
330 - 5.708
1/8th - 8.769
MPH - 80.94
1000 - 11.419
1/4 - 13.667
MPH - 100.51

hmm, still pretty crappy times for the STILL "slowest Hot Cammed Car in the nation" (which i have deemed myself) But hey, i was somewhat content knowing I was at least getting quicker. Plus, most of the time i focused on trying to find good launch techniques for the stall.

Then the trouble.... I finally get to stage in the "good" lane. I find a nice tread and rubber patch to guide me. I brake stall it to about 1300 RPM, pretty light, and drop it. BAM! The car hits and grabs like u wouldn't believe! no tire spin! grabs and goes out of the hole likre i couldn't believe! (Keep in mind I'm on 245/50 R16 dunlop street tires) I actually was dead even with a suped up AWD Stealth TT out of the hole.
HOWEVER, i get to the shift outta first, and the car bounces the rev limiter for a second or so
I cut a 1.9 60 foot, and wound up with a 14.4 E.T.

I have PCMforless tuning, and I thought this OBD1 and high stall problem have been resolved by these expert tuners for awhile now? What gives on that? Also, why is my car still not trapping any MPH?? I would appreciate any feedback on ANYTHING in my post. questions, comments, opinions? keep 'em coming! thanx all, and sorry about the length.

Did you specify that you had the problem? It doesn't automatically come with the tune, unless you tell him you have the problem, because he needs to do something funny with your downshifts. You need a new file.

Man, I'm sorry to say that but your times are horrible. There's definetely a problem with the car.... Did you ever scan/log it?

The MPH is a good indicative your car lacks power. You should be at least in 106s.

Yea tell me about it. Like I said, i have dubbed myself "slowest Hot Cammed car in teh nation"

This year has been REALLY crappy, and the car has gone down hil in performance ever since installation of the hot cam kit. My trans was slipping big time, and my Race Built Trans helped a ton.

It's obviously not my driving. I have an A4 and cut extremely consistant 2.0 60's on street tires. Yesterday I cut my first 1.9 with street tires and the new stall, and that's where i ran into the high stall/shift problem. I'm not at all impressed with my PCMforless programming. If u see my thread in comp/diag section, u will see my thread about my Scanmaster read out of 5 degrees of retarded timing @ WOT.

I think my main issues right now are Tuning and the possibility of a clogged cat, (which some ppl suggest may be the symptom of lack of top end power) which i plan to remove soon. It seems like i have tried everything and my car stil runs terrible. Any fresh ideas anyone?

Yea, Bryan from PCM's for less has the fix, but like Ramair95ta mentioned, it dosen't automatically come with his tune.....After the stall converter installation(around 2800 and up with OBD1's), some cars end up hitting the limiter during shifts and some don't

I had the same problem 4 years ago. All the tuners, PCMforless, Ed Wright, and Madwolf know how to fix the problem. You have to tell them you have a high stall when ordering the program for them to fix it. Call who ever programed the car and they can send the fix for it via e-mail. Then you can download it into your PCM. Good luck

do u manually shift ur A4? cause if you do have fun rebuillding it in about 6 months.

All you need to do is leave it in OD and let the car shift itself.
