O2 Simulators, Gutted Cat, Emissions

Have any of you gutted your cat without buying O2 simulators? Did you get any SES lights? Pass/fail emissions? Why are the simulators so expensive, and can the PCM be programmed to not monitor the O2 sensors?

If you gut your cats you'll either have to have the rear O2 sensors programmed out or buy O2 simulators, otherwise you will get an SES light.

If your state require dyno/sniffer test, you will fail it anyway.

and depending onn the type of emissions...you won't pass

some states do visual only....

some do visual and sniff test...

some just plug into your computer and check if everything is good...

and i'm sure there are some other ways

I gutted the cat on my 95. The ses light never came on. You do notice more of a smell out the back of the car though. But we just have a visual inspection here.

I also gutted my cat on my 95 and passed emissions here in maryland. Your light will only come on if your car is a 96 or newer because of the new computer, and 95 and older only have 2 o2 sensors before the cat and none after the cat . but I am not saying you will pass but who knows. I am now trying to pass with my hooker longtubes, no cats, true duals and dumps at the rear axle. Dont see it happening

To give you an idea since we both have an OBD2 car. I got an ORP and didnt use 02 Simms. SES light pops up so I deleted it with my code reader. I got tired of deleting codes every other day so I got 02 Simms. On the freeway if driving for a long time..sometimes I get an EGR code, but that's very rare. My car smells really bad and it gives me a headache. Good thing it's a weekend car. I live in California so there is no way in this earth I will pass smog with no cats so. I have my stock pipes ready to swap tho.
