O2 sensors

is it okay to splice an extension onto an O2 sensor? i had a y pipe made the other day and they welded the bung too far from the plug for the O2, so they spliced and extension from the wires of another O2 sensor. i have a very small leak at the flange where the header and Ypipe meet and my left bank is VERY LEAN. i am wondering if it is all from the leak, or maybe a combination of a NOW-bad O2 sensor and the leak.

anybody know where to buy O2 extensions for the rectangle plug O2 sensors?

Splicing is ok if done correctly. On an O2, I would personally not rely on anything but a soldered connection. The small voltages that the sensor uses could be very susceptible to a poor connection.
That said, if you have a leak, you need to fix that and re-evaluate before chasing anything else.

Sorry to tell you, but you need to buy a new sensor. You can't cut the wires of the sensor, only the harness wires that are on the car.
