as i mentioned in earlier posts i blew my head gasket and figured i would throw in some gmpp 1.6 rr while replacing gaskets using a fel pro head gasket set and mr gasket copper seals on header gasket which blew out, too

then i start searching here and see my obdii is not going to like the racket i'm gonna cause doing this

so i'll get a set composite lt 1/lt4 valve covers to quiet it down

if it's not quiet enough my obdii will sense knock and now i'll be trouble shooting another unrelated but related area of the world of obdii with knock retard et al

i can put in a lt 4 knock module which will sensitize the lt 1 knock sensor data

i remember when doing a search years ago on header install the same issue with knock and figured i'm not doing anything until i see it

my mpg went up to 30 on the highway and no ses lights or driveability issues led me to believe the threads that showed up in my header search on knock were more conceptual than real life for a lowly modded car as i have; heck, i didn't even notice any difference in decibel level of exhaust note after header install (no flames intended towards those threads)

i'm tempted to leave the knock module alone once again and take a wait and see approach

anyone with similar setup in sig done the 1.6 rr and not the lt 4 knock module and gotten away with it

my friggin lowly modded car is so damn noisy to begin with i don't see how much more noisier it could get without upgrading intake, cam, headwork ...

anyone think i'm nuts?
