Noticable miss without ses please look
First it's a 94 z stock just had the heads workesd on when head gasket blew. 116000 miles. For some reason it has a very noticeable miss when accelarating seems to idle fine but when you press the gas it's weak and missing like 1 cyl. I thought maybe injector stuck but I stomp it which i never do and you'd think it would blow black smoke but it doesn't. Maybe it's a vaccum leak or something without the ses light it just makes it that much harder to diagnose. Any help or experience is appreciated
Mine has a similar problem except mine misses at idle only it seems. I have traced mine to a fueling problem. A miss can be caused by a lot of different factors just start checking things one by one plugs, wires, injectors ect.. oh and OBD1 computers do not have misfire detection so you will not get a ses light for one.
The absence of the SES light does not mean it doesn't have a code set. There are some that do not light the SES.
Also, if it is missing, pulling one injector clip at a time and replacing it until you find the one that does NOT change the idle characteristics will tell you which cylinder is out.
Don't forget, even the opti needs a cap and rotor as often as any other conventional distributor. And don't forget the way the wires are run. There can be misfires or what I like to call side shots in several places from the wires to the block.
