Not trying to be too optimistic..

Ok, with mods in sig, fresh engine + CC306, 1.6RRs, stock heads + tuning... would I be 12s? what would it take for 11s?

I plan on picking up a set of short headers really soon.

My race weight is a little under 3500lbs.

I plan on getting my other heads reworked and flowed, then putting them back on..but for now Im curious.

The engine with stock cam ran a best of 14.3 @ 103mph w/ 2.6 60ft.. (Yah I know..horrible time and not really good to go off of...) but I made plenty of power and pulled 3 different A4 LS1 cars up past the 100mph mark (decent 1 car or better leads)... and ran neck and neck with a 98SS A4 (He was on DRs.)

Yes. You'll probably see around 111-113 at best.

Is there a reason that you are not going with long tubes? Just curious to see the reason. I would think that you wouldnt want to choke the engine with shorties.

Unfortunately Cost is the reason... I can get shortys used for ~100 bucks, and LTs are much more normally. That and Im not going to be 1/4 racing much... its a daily/interstate cruiser..so I dont need the extra I could get from LTs... just wouldnt mind something more than stock manifolds.

I should also add I have a small converter and don't plan on going to anything extreme. Since the CC306 doesnt hit its powerband until like 3K (think that was it)..I wouldnt mind the extra low end trq (shortys) instead of LTs (less low end I hear).

Were you saying mid teens are not doable on the stock heads? or even with ported??

I think you've got it backwards. Shorties give you more up high, LT's give you more under the curve. Shorties are NOT that bad for these cars. For a hundred bucks I'd say go for it! There's always time for improvement down the road...
