im planning on building up my engine during the winter while its garaged and i have a few questions.... should i remove the engine from the top or the bottom? if i cannot afford the lt4 heads, what should i get? will the lt4 intake manifold work with stock heads, and other heads besides the lt4 heads? and im sure i have a few more questions to ask but i cant think of them right now...
thanks in advance

Re: not sure
Even the most basic of searches would show you most of us recommend porting the stock heads over jumping to aftermarket or LT4 heads at least if staying with a 350. On the LT4 intake it is NOT an upgrade this again is covered almost weekly, it fits the LT4 heads and has material to allow it to be ported to work better with them but is even if machined to fit not an upgrade for LT1 heads. With as basic as your questions are and as low a level of research as they show I have to say you NEED a lot of other stuff before you look inside the engine. I did the cam before gears, stall and headers and gained little then as I did the stall, gears and headers needed to allow the cam to work right I dropped nearly 2 seconds off my time and mine is a VERY mild cam and I had proper programming in the pcm everty step of the way.
Re: not sure
Port your stock heads and add 2.0 valves.Port the intake, get a 58MM TB and a K&N CAI.Get .026 head gaskets. Get a cam of your choice with 224/230@50 on a 108+4 with right around .600 lift. Get 36lb injectors and a Racetronics 255 fuel pump. Get 1-3/4 long tubes with 3-1/2 collectors and a 3-1/2 Y pipe and 4" out the back.
12 bolt rear with 4.10 a good tach and some DR's and "let er rip tater chip"
"O" better get a drive shaft with that and maybe a 200 shot of N2O and hang on.
