Not plugs~!

Just changed the plugs and wires...

After cam swap everything was going good... Ran choice ..Reved like a funny car... and then 3 days later after the lash was set I had to seal it up... (valve covers) I left the radiator cap off To burp the system and It blew coolant all over everthing before I could shut it off....

Its sounds 98% like a timing issue...

Can the opti just screw up on a few cyclinders?

The car start and runs but it sounds like dead cylinder..

When I rev It it pops.. The funny thing Is it didnt pop as soon as I started it I reved IT real quick and it sounds good then gradualy got worse.. When I put it drive it about dies..

Does It sound like the opti of timing chain (stock jumped a tooth) Its weird because Everything ran excellent I mean I was proud all the way up untill the last step coolant a plates and insurance .. The guy that did my lash said I had the #8 rocker way to tight he tightend it a little more and it died you think It bent a pushrod?

I'd take one thing at a time. how much coolant is alot? Hard to say. Double check every thing you've done so far. If you're worried about bent pushrods, take them out and roll them on a known FLAT surface. If they wobble or dont roll, they're bent.

Are you adjusting to 1/4 to 1/2 turn at TDC with the valves closed? Over tightening can make valves hang open and you loose pressure in those cylinders, causing a weak or dead cylinder...or pops on the exhaust side...

I dont think it's timing. It's controlled by the PCM. Are you using a stock chain? They have been known to break, but never heard on one just jumping a tooth unless it's REALLY worn out.

Any SES codes?

after that, I'd determine which cylinders are misfiring and check spark on those cylinders to get an idea about the opti.

Here's an idea I'm not too sure about that's worth a try. I heard of someone soaking their '95 in a car wash and it wouldn't start (soaked opti). They bought some length of vacuum hose and pulled another car up to it and hooked up vacuum to help dry it out. After like 20 minutes, it was dry enough to restart. Haven't heard of any problems since. If it sits long enough to get rust on the sensors or gets full enough to damage them, I dont see that working...I dont know what year you have but if you have a '95 up, it's worth a shot...

I have a 94 vented.. Its only misfiring on a couple cylinders maybe one.... It seems like spark... Because At the begining of the intall I put the opti on wrong witch made poping and fireball's

You think I could of completly burnt out a new spark plug or 2?

Cause It seems right at first it seems like its going to run right.. But then It weakens and doesnt spark on that cylinder... Although There Is hard starts...

It had of just happen... Because It Reved like a funny car the first 3 days... Think It could be a Valve cover thats not clearing?

AAaaahhhh,ok. I see what's up. I had this same problem as have many other people. Sounds like you have weak spark or fouled plugs. I had a problem with my plugs loading up at idle even with new plugs and wires. try running it at 1800 to 2000 for a minute and see if it clears up. Probably will. I changed to NGK tr-6 (for high compression or forced induction motors) plugs and it's run great since.

You should verify spark when the problem is happening. if you have headers this is easy. Use a small length of short vacuum hose inserted between the plug wire and opti, maybe 2 inches long. Keep the exposed hose short and off of one another. Then using a test light grounded to the frame or engine (not a gound bolt), touch each one to check for spark. Should see the spark and engine should stutter when you ground the spark. Do this obviously with the engine running but be careful since you'll be around the accessories. You can do this on the plug side too to verify the wires are good but be careful of headers. My problem was my plugs were fouling at idle (dirty MAF and old 02's) even though they were new causing the stumble with no codes.

I dont understand the question about the valve covers...that would cause one hell of an oil leak but not an idle problem...

Thanks Ill check the plugs real Quick... I heard after a cam Install you shouldnt plug the O2's in untill you got a tune... Because It will make it you run extremly rich...

It was running Sickning rich anyway But I just dont think It could burn up a spark plug that easy.... there autolite 106's brand new...

Should I look into a new Coil too? maybe a MSD blaster?
