Not happy with Jet Hotts

I just got my Jet Hotts today and the slide in tube for the #1 cylinder doesnt line up worth a damn. I am going to have to tweak the hell out of it. Once I do get it all in, I suppose you have to weld it to keep it from leaking but doesnt that make the coating bubble and start to chip away? Im not very pleased with Jett hotts quality right now. To top it off, one of my header gaskets was half way hanging out of the box and it is ruined. Has anyone else had a problem with the #1 primary tube not lining up? When you weld it, does it make the coating start to chip away?

Are you sure the tube is all the way in? i had to tap mine with a rubber mallet, then it lined up right. I didnt weld mine and have not leak there, so its not needed.

I slid mine in and it doesnt leak. I used the gaskets that came with them but shouldnt have. I use Fel-Pro's 1406 gasket and it just looks and feels much better than the one Jet-Hot includes with the headers. Other than that I love my headers and wouldnt buy any other brand. Definitely best product on the market.

I thought the same thing too untill I finally got the primary all the way in the tube. Just keep working at it. BTW, no leaks here.

As far as front to back, I can make it so the holes are the right distance apart, but the flang on the #1 primary is not on the same plane as the #3,#5#7 primarys. Does anyone else leave it unwelded?

I don't think anyone welds it.

Mine was a little tricky to get lined up, but once I got it all the way in, it was perfect. No leaks, no welds.......

have fun getting it in there welded up.

and have even more fun welding it once its in there.

no one welds them.
go and buy felpro gaskets anyways, and some stage 8 locking bolts.

More fun ahead as they start rusting like mine are after 4 months & my car is not a daily driver. Not driven in the winter or in the rain [ twice I got caught in the rain].

On mine we sanded down the coating on the slip fit tube some, to allow it to go in easier. After that it lined up reasonably easy. Just keep working at it. You shouldn't have to weld it to keep it from leaking. Mine is not leaking and it isn't welded.

I didn't even get any gaskets with my Jet-Hots, lol. Didn't know I was supposed to. I would recommend Breslin locking header bolts and Percy's dead soft gaskets. I had a felpro on the passenger side blow out on the first day, but the felpro on the driver side is still in and good as new, go figure. I have a Percy on the passenger side, but haven't replaced the driver side yet, since it isn't leaking.

My slip fit wont stop leaking, I think it is because i bottomed out the header on a spped bump and i guess it bent or streched out the tube so it wouldnt seal,

But i have never had a problem lineing it up...

I am going to have mine welded as soon as i have the time to take it off the car.

I have had no problems and really like them. One of the best headers I have seen.

I would put a strap clamp (stainless) if youre worried about it, or if youre cheaper you can use a stainless hose clamp. I just slipped mine in and it hasnt leaked.

My Jet-hotts rusted as well, I just cleaned them with some double ot steel wool and then painted them with VHT 1500 degree aluminum paint. This paint will hold up to the head good if you remove all oil and rust from the surface before you paint. The baked finish is almost undistinquishable from the jet hot color.

I had to sand a little bit to get my tube to go in. But once in, it worked well, no leaks, and I did not weld. I have only run my car for 650 miles since instal and there is some rust, wherever I scratched them on the install. Other than that I am very satisfied.
