Not getting spark to ignition coil/out of coil

car wont start, its a 95 LT1.

no spark is coming out of the ignition coil. its a brand new coil.
what along that line would be causing this problem?

Re: Not getting spark to ignition coil/out of coil

check the plug that goes into the top of the opti, that was my problem. i converted my 94 car to 95 opti and i had to get a new plug for my distributer because the old one wasnt long enough. check in a manual and see which wire coming out of the distributer carries the signal to the computer and then check that wire to see if it is sending the signal while having somebody turn over the car. i am not sure if you need to check voltage or ohms but the book should tell you which one and how much there should be. hope you get it figured out.

Re: Not getting spark to ignition coil/out of coil

Assuming you checked spark at the coil and there was none. The first place to start is the white wire going to the ICM. When the engine is cranking, it should have from 1 to 4 volts AC. Be sure your meter is set to AC. If not, ohm the wire back to the black PCM connector pin 5. If it ohms ok, try reading the voltage at pin 5 while someone cranks it.

If still no good, it's time to check the voltage and feed back signals at the opti.
