Not able to install strut tower brace

Hi,

looking for some help, I'm not able to install my strut tower brace. It seems to push against the frame underneath the whippers.

here's what it looks like:

Is it bent, I know it is supposed to be mounted under the cowl also, does it even fit under the cowling? Try mounting it to the struts first then see how it fits against the cowling.

thats the problem, it goes in the struts on one side but then after I can't on the other side bc the center hits underneath the cowl the way the cowl is molded. The brace does not seem to be bent. but there's two bolts in the middle of the brace the don't seem to align anywhere in the cowl.

Take that thing back wherever you got it and get a BMR.

You need to install the driver side first by slipping it over the strut bolts, then slide the brace underneath the cowl and remove the passenger side strut bolts. Once you do that put your foot in the wheel and step down (this only works if your car is up on jack stands) this will lower the strut studs enough for you to slide the brace over the studs and bolt them down. Good luck. Hope this helps.

Yup thats how I installed mine....at times its a real bitch so I used a rubber mallet and banged it into place...and at other times I would use a crowbar to take it off.

Here are some installed pics - http://community.webshots.com/photo/...70034213sKAtLO

Sounds just like my Granatelli.
Get a big Fn Hammer and pound it in.
No, a rubber mallet or a towel wrapped around the brace and a 2 pound hammer, I have used both.
I don,t bolt up that third mounting point on the brace cause I heard it would crack your windshield and it works just fine.

All the 3 point braces that I have seen bolt to the cowl in some way, I have never heard good things about this so I just bolt up the sides and leave the third mounting point alone. 4 bolts and you should be in business.

I've had mine bolted to the cowl area for nearly 7 years now....no troubles....that cracking windshield thing is either a freak accident or myth.
