Is this normal for a TC????
I posted this thread in the Drivetrain forum yesterday but had no luck. Maybe you guys can help. Anyways I installed a 2400 Holeshot a month and a half ago. Up untill last Wednesday everything seemed to be fine. Now when I come to a stop the car starts to surge when applying the brakes. This also happens in reverse. My mehanic and I thought it might be the U-joints and sure enough they were both on their way out. I had the U-joints replaced but the car is still pulsing/surging when coming to a stop. My buddy seems to think that the TC finally loosened up and that it's a normal reaction to the stock cam lope. I just changed the trans fluid a 1 1/2 weeks ago too. Have any of you guys experienced this after installing a TC? Is there something else wrong with the trans? Any advice you guys can give would be greatly appreciated. I'm at a loss and not sure what to do. Thanks.
With the stock cam this should not be an issue. What I would look into is a programming fix. The idle speed could probably stand to be raised 100 rpm and your IAC Throttle Follower settings should be upped a couple of points across the board....that is the setting that holds RPMs up a little as you come to a stop.
With it too low, when you come to a stop the car will start to surge and die until the IAC motor can compensate.
Try disconnecting your battery for a few minutes to clear the PCM then reconnect and drive around. This may be something the PCM "learned" and that's why it took a while to start happening.
That's all I can think of for now. But it seems like if it was fine for a while and then not, then something has to have changed since then.

Thanks Chris 96 WS6. I was also thinking the car might need to be reprogrammed to run properly. This surging happened right after I went to the track last Tuesday too. I don't see why it would be doing this when everything was fine the first 5 - 6 weeks before. I'll try disconnecting the battery first to see if that works. If not I'll look into a mail order tune. Thanks again.
Hey Chris, would a TB airfoil throw off the IAC? I installed one a couple weeks ago and am wondering if I should take it off. I've read airfoils mess with the IAC. Oh well it's worth a shot.
