Question Noob trying to match parts for motor upgrade, HELP!!!

This is going to be my daily driver, and will hardly ever see the track.

Here are the mods I have already:

edelbrock headers
k&n cone filter
underdrive pulley
comp cams air foil
gutted mass air flow
flowmaster cat back w/ 4 3" tips and 3" piping
6 speed with short shift
performance clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate
zr1 wheels w/ 315/35/17's on the rear
ram air hood

These are the parts I noticed in Summit and want to throw on her sooner than later but need you "PROS" to help me decide if the parts will work good together, and or if I even need a part. I am looking for 400-500 hp from the motor.:

*Catco high flow catalytic converter
*Mallory Electric High Perf. Fuel pump model 250
*Comp Cams 305 cam *220/230 510/510*
*Madz28 tune
*GM performance LT4 heads assembled
*Comp Cams pushrods (what length?!)
*Comp Cams 1.6 Roller Rockers
*Comp Cams hydro roller lifters ( do I need these? )
*Copper head gaskets (need these or waste of money?)
*Accel 30lb/hr injectors
*Granatelli Motorsports Mass air (need this?)
*BBK throttle body, are they even 58cc? (need this?)
*I cant find any aftermarket LT1 intakes (need this? if so link me please)
*msd ignition box (digital 6 plus) *need this?*
*Eaton posi (if I get the posi will it come with gears ?)
*GM oem 4.10 gears in my 10 bolt ( yeah I know its risky )
*eibach sport springs in the front only since my 315s rub in the rear
*custom drilled and slotted rotors
*should I do pistons/rings/crank/ and or rods or will everything else be strong enough?? The lt4 heads produce 11:1 with stock pistons!!!

Thats all I can think of now and it will cost me enough already, lol.....please tell me better parts, parts I dont need, and parts I missed. THANKS ALOT---

p.s. if I look like I dont know what I am doing, your right

Red face Re: Noob trying to match parts for motor upgrade, HELP!!!

Ooooh bummer that is not the reply I was hoping for. I was hoping for you guys saying "nice choice in parts", lol

EDIT: I live in an apt. and plan on paying my buddy to do all the mods. Hes an ASE certified mechanic......I know its sucky to say that since I did all the work on my 67' myself, but these new motors are too much for me. They dont even let me change my oil in my apt. without a note on my door, lol!!! So I just need people to let me know if these parts will work good together and perform the way I expect (hp ratings). Thanks---

Start by looking into something like the LE3 package from Lloyd. Nothing but cudos on here from him. Maybe add some 4.10 gears since you have the m6. If you need more, look around in here, there is a ton of info but it takes some time to find what you're looking for. You may need some better heads if you want more but you can get a lot out of that package with stock heads. It does seem like you're about to waste a lot of money looking at that list. Just my limited opinion as I am pretty new to modifying the LT1.

You won't get close to 400 hp with those mods. Since you really don't know much about the engine and are not allowed to work on it, I would buy an engine or short block package from reputable shop and install it. It would be a lot less work and you won't have to worry about buying all the correct parts. You will need to do some serious research if you want to buy all your own stuff.

Question Re: Noob trying to match parts for motor upgrade, HELP!!!

wow thats a bummer guys....I was looking forward to keeping the motor I had and saying I was the one that picked the parts to make it bad ***. Atleast you guys are being honest. Guess I will pretty much stick with what I have

EDIT: are the cam and the heads I picked out atleast a good combo?!
*with a posi rear do I get gears with it or are they separate?
*to get the roller rockers to work as 1.6 what other parts do I replace? (lifters/pushrods?)

Unhappy Re: Noob trying to match parts for motor upgrade, HELP!!!

Well guys....I looked on Summit and the only motors under $5K pump out the same horses my LT1 already does!!!! WTF!!!??? Anything else is $8K, and thats more than the car is worth. How much can I resell my LT1 with the above mods for (that may make it worthwhile)? I am guessing my car pumps out 350+ horses so I am confused how if I put a cam, heads, and roller rockers in it wont be close to 400 Shoebox?! HELP!!!!

EDIT: are the hp ratings on the crate motors BEFORE exhaust ect?! How do they rate them????

if all you want is 400 at the motor, that list will probably get you there. however getting lt4 heads instead of porting the stockers will cost more money and result in less power (unless you port the lt4's) honestly i would do a search for lloyd elliot and check out his packages, he offers them for up to 420 RWHP

If you put your car on a chassis dyno, you might not even be at 300. Most ads you see are probably estimates on an engine dyno, because they cannot calculate drivetrain losses for every car/situation.

Re: Noob trying to match parts for motor upgrade, HELP!!!

Thanks guy....but the thought of needing a STALL scares me because that is normally a radical engine that shouldnt be on the street as a daily driver. How about his LE1 package? I think its the 420rwhp package. Does he GIVE you a cam , then port your heads .... is that how that package works? Does he give you a tune too?! Thanks guys.--

LE1 ...http://www.eportworks.com/LT1LE1.htm 370-390...I've got a M6 but people run stalls all day long I think...he'll port the heads flow em and custom grind a cam...it's all in the price...supporting parts are up to you...

BTW: where in MO are you about...

ZGuy gave you the best reply so far...an LE package and spray will get you to 500 maybe more....theres tons of DD cars with stalls, my friend had a 3600 in his Z, daily driver, it behaved normal until you romped on it and it boogied

I think he was refering to NOS scarring him, not STALL. I believe that is what he meant.

Unhappy Re: Noob trying to match parts for motor upgrade, HELP!!!

How long should I expect my car to be down if I send LLOYD my heads?! That is the one turnoff, and I know I am running a 6 spd so I dont have a "stall" but I always thought when someone used a stall the motor didnt take off until "3k"rpms from a stop or something?! That seems silly to me, like you would be burning out at each start!!!??? NOS is fine, but I thought the stall killed the drivability.....but I guess I was way off, lol. I think I will go the custom route. Will a 305 cam be strong enough for a lope or is that the 306 if I am looking for a mean sounding cam (if I dont go with LLOYD)?! This is my daily driver and cant be down more than a week TOPS, lol and the shipping time back and forth is easily 6 days . THANKS---
