Noisy Roller Rockers

Okay here is the question, I have 1.6 Roller Rockers installed on my car, They make a rattling noise as they run, I asked the engine builder about it and was told it was normal for them, However i have been in 3 other cars with the same RR's and theirs dont make the rattling noise.. SO should they Rattle or not. Im not seeing the proper HP from the engine and Im wondering if this is whats causing it..

They could be too loose, just go through and readjust them. What rockers are they? How much paast 0 lash did you turn them? Make sure the poly locks are tight?

A little noise is normal, but if you used these before without the noise you are talking about then they probably need to be tightened. And rockers adjusted wrong definately effects power.

also if you have stock valve covers did you modify them. I belive you have to cut out the center section out of them.

I didnt install them and the shop that did install them shut down quickly after I picked up my car so I think there was something shady going on.. But they have made the same rattling noise since i picked it up from them and has not produced the power i thought it should since the also.

Re: Noisy Roller Rockers

What year is your car? What kind of rockers are they? What else is in the motor? (valvespring type, aftermarket heads, are you using guideplates, stock lifters???) Was this a complete motor build, or just a valvetrain swap?

How much power is it producing, and how much did you think it should produce?

Some roller rocker setups are noisy by design, and some are quiet. A little more info would help people help you.....

Thomas.

Re: Noisy Roller Rockers

They're probably hitting the support brackets on the underside of the valve covers... depeneding on what rockers you have.

Re: Noisy Roller Rockers

Well I dont know enough about them, So i guess the only thing I can do is take the valve covers off and check them myself and see what might be the problem.. I know what I was told but I dont know for sure.. I was told they were GM Performance 1.6 Roller Rockers.
