No start!! HELP - Sounds like its seized?

My cars been trouble free for the longest time, i've taken great care of and am near religious with everything on it in terms maintenance.

The car was running fine last night, the only abnormal thing is that I was driving very slow because of snow. The weather is just above freezing today and the car has 50/50 antifreeze mix. Oil checks out fine too.

I go to start the car up this morning and all I hear is the starter engage, and an immediate KLUNK. Sounds like the starter couldnt turn the engine! I try afew more times, identical results. After about the 5th try or so the klunk stops and now all i hear is Whirring from the starter!

The battery is 100% ok (new ACdelco battery with a green eye). I can't get under the car because of the snow outside.

Anyone have any idea of what this could be? The engine was rebuilt less than 2 years ago!!

Sounds like the started bearing could have exploded and the shaft now spins freely in the nose cone. My starter nose broke like that once. Just a thought

Seizing is very doubtful, especially if you have had good oil pressure. It's most likely the starter solenoid/assembly.

I posted in the other one also. Try tapping the starter and solenoid assembly with a hammer, this worked on mine when it got very cold out and the starter temps changed rapidly from hot close to the LT's to cold when shut off. I think something in the solenoid assembly was sticking due to the rapid temp change.
