No Start and CPS (P0336)
No Start and CPS (P0336)
Ok I searched and got all the info and I've actually already fixed the problem, but I need to know why I had the issue in the first place.
Replaced opti, plugs and wires a few weeks ago. When replacing the opti I couldn't get it that last 1/4" so I used the bolts to pull it on. Friday, my car died on the way home while driving. I thought ok, it's the opti and it's my fault. I pulled the opti and the wear marks from the pin were in the right spots and nothing looked damaged, I even swapped it out with a spare opti I had for another project with no luck.
I read up on the Opti, ICM and coil tests and see that the ICM gets power from the ignition fuse. I'm not very good with electrical so I figure I'll check the fuse before I try and do the PIN tests and continuity tests and sure enough the ignition fuse is blown. I replace it and walla the car starts.
My question is why did the ignition fuse blow in the first place? My CPS wiring when I looked at it was all FUBAR'd so I need a new connector/pigtail so I can replace it, but would the CPS wiring shorting out cause the ignition fuse to blow? Could it be just a bad fuse or do fuses really last forever as long as the circut is good? Any insight appreciated.
