no spark after new heads!
a few weeks ago i was driving down the highway in my 97 and the timing chain let loose. at 1st i thought it was just that, so i replaced the timing set. car started right up but ran like crap, but did idle, found 2 bent valves. so back apart the car came. i took off the drivers side head as that was the only one with bent valves (put a straight edge across the valve stems) i had the vals replaced a t a machine shop. got it all back togeather and went to fire it and it wouldnt run, so we checked for spark and had spark but the fuel pressure was in the 30 range so we replaced the filter. waited a day (due to rain) and went at it again, but this time i have in the 40 range for fuel and no spark? WTF! so we replaced the module above the coil, and still nothing! we went back over every plug and they are all plugged in, my brother who is a mechanical engineer from michigan tech, graduated near the top of his class, cant even figure it out! if i can fix this soon im just gonna sell it and buy a damn vette!
no spark from the coil wire, and as posted above i already replaced the ignition controll module (its right above the coil) little bastard was 60 almost 70 bucks! my wire that is supposed to have the pulsing signal has nothing, it is dead, we had an ohm meter on the icm plug and the coil plug.
If your coil isn't sparking, I'd assume it's the culprit. Make sure you grounded it properly during your head swap. If it's grounded, etc... Pick up a new one and try it. They're only $50 and a worthy mod anyway. You can upgrade to MSD Blaster Coil.
Check your opti harness. It sounds like the PCM isn't getting a signal from the opti. And for that matter, check your ignition fuse under the hood and PCM fuse in the car to make sure everything is getting juice.
