No Spark!?!?

Ok here is the deal. I started my car up about two weeks ago and it ran fine. I come home after if had sat for the 2.5 weeks and it would not fire.

I pulled the plug off of the coil and there is no spark coming out of it? But i have tested pin going into the coil and it has 12V.
Any suggestions? Any thing else i can test?

Thanks
Travis

Re: No Spark!?!?

I hope its that...THe ICM is pretty easy to change.

Can the ICM be tested using a multimeter?

Thanks

Re: No Spark!?!?

Shoebox's test here will tell you what is wrong..

http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech2.html#opti_test

If there is no spark comming from the coil, it could be a bad ICM, or PCM, or opti..Usually the ICM or opti would fail before the PCM...Test the "B" connector at the ICM, and if you dont get between 1-4 volts, its most likely the opti, or the opti harness, or the ICM..good luck..

Re: No Spark!?!?

Ok i have now tested on the harness from terminal A to ground and D to ground and have 12v. When i switched the meter over to AC and tested from Terminal B to ground I had pretty much nothing...some mV reading. No where near the 1 to 4V.

I'm now going to test the harness from the opti to the pcm. If that checks out ok i guess that only leaves me with a bad ICM or bad Opti.

Can a advance or auto zone test the ICM?

Thanks
Travis
