No Spark

After sitting for the winter I have the car in the garage.

Battery is dead.
Plugs are fouled.
Oil needs to be changed.
Rear rims are out of round.

But what bugs me is this weird electrical (perhaps ground) issue.

I have been through three fuel pumps in the last couple of years, two opti's, two coil's, two ignition control modules, a starter, an alternator, and still the battery goes flat (new diehard).

This morning I am picking up a new ICM to see if it will help get the car started. There is no spark at the coil.

I have a marine ground block I will be putting in. Currently there is a ground from the motor to the frame, and another ground from the battery to the frame. Hopefully a better ground may help.

Any suggestions as to where to look next?

It can be problems with ground. In this case I'm shure you find your problem in ICM or PCM. But what was the order of electrical parts replacement? May be alternator was first or smth...

Hey Hub, do you have a Chiltons or similar repair manual? I'd suggest section 2-1 of a Chiltons that troubleshoots a no start condition. It walks you though and isolates the problem pretty well. You'd need a multimeter, spark tester (or just hold close to ground), and about 20min to an hr of time. It literally has you testing individual wires of the ICM and Opti, as well as coil connections, and tells you what signals you should be seeing with ignition on or while cranking. If you go through the procedure correctly it will pinpoint the problem for you.

The two times I've had this problem it has correctly pointed me to the opti harness connector (which just happened to be totally corroded ).

Good luck.

Thanks, I will be spending some time on it this afternoon.

The opti is a 1995 and the connector is less than a year old.

Fuel pumps have been crapping out every year at least once or twice.

Opti craps out like clockwork on a yearly basis.

The ICM went, then the starter went, then the alternator went last summer.

The car just crapped out when I was taking off for Ohio last year so I just parked it for the winter.
