no response from Speed-Pro ECU

I finished my Fast Track Performance harness install and I tried to communicate with my Speed-Pro ECU via my laptop. I get no response.

So, first off, is the serial port usually designated COM1 or COM2? How do I change the software so it will read COM2? I'm running version 1.303

It was my new laptop that was causing these latest problems. When I use my old P1 Hitachi, I can go online and read the values from the ECU. I can't with my new one because the "cc.exe" program needs to run in DOS... I don't know how to make XP run a given file in DOS. I was told to just right-click and it would be given as an option, but it's not there.

Now, I could use my old laptop, but I need to get a baseline file to it and it doesn't have a floppy drive or a modem. It DOES have a CD-ROM drive, but when I make CD's from my newer laptop, it uses DirectCD. So, the CD's can only be read from drives with DirectCD installed.

So, tell me how to make my new laptop run a file in DOS or tell me how to write a file to a CD and have it be able to be read in ANY CD-ROM drive... please
