My buddy didnt detune the car when he hooked his scanner up to it. He is very knowledgeable about this stuff and would never do that. I do have a LT4 KM. The programming isnt my problem.

We did pull the intake off but we used alot of RTV to seal it back up on the front and back lip! With the removing of the EGR pump and stuff there could be a leak there or a miss placed plug wire. I have no clue and this moment but hopefully we will figure it out this weekend.

Again, its not that I dont have any power. The car still runs fine but not as strong as the car should be pulling with that cam.

No A/F, FP readings and using a seat-of-the pants dyno test ....

I'm trying to convince a friend (you reading this Marcin!? ) that a dyno tune is not a luxury - it is a necessity!

Butt-o-meter and watching stock sensor readings is crude for WOT performance.

Ditto Racetronix!

Its not seat of pants guessing. My buddy has the same mods and same cam. We would always run side by side until now. With the same cam he pulled me by 3 cars. That shouldnt be happening.

Getting it on the dyno is the only way to tell and getting it dyno-tuned. Just a SOTP feel won't tell you anything. Everyone seems to be telling you this, just listen. Your timing/fuel curves are probably all fudged up and need to be readjusted which any dyno tuner could probably do for you if they have LT1 edit or a similar program.

That does not qualify as a proper test as any professional tuner will tell you. There are two many other variables that could effect the outcome of a race. Either way win or lose you will never know what you stand to gain HP wise unless you get your car on a dyno with an A/F meter. You can not expect to do a cam change and not make changes to your fuel map period.

All of your gueses are like pissing in the wind. Nothing wrong with the tuning. Something is not right. And i have no clue what it is.

How do you know your tuning is OK if you have not checked it? Perhaps your knock problem is not a false knock problem? Perhaps it is an A/F problem? Perhaps your FP is down under WOT or there is an injector problem (plugged / DC)?

How do you expect to diagnose the problem properly by beating up on the car running up and down the street? If you get it on a dyno with A/F you will be able to diagnose the problem 'lickidy split'

Summer class at the School of Hard Knocks is starting Aug 1/03. Are you registered?

what valve springs did you use?

larger injectors?

i noticed you have an AFPR which can actually make your car run worse unless it was lean to begin with but thats unlikely.

I say the tuning is pretty close because by looking at all the tables and everything else, my buddy says there fine. The only thing that he questioned was the maps being high. He said it looked as if I had a vacuum leak or something.

He checked out the a/f and everything checked out fine. He did say the car was running a little rich because I have a bad and I had a bad 02.

The only thing about getting it on a dyno, is theres not one nearby.

Please don't take this as a flame...

If you knew anything about tuning, you'd realize there is NO way you are dialed in on tuning. Every car is different. Some tunes that work on some cars work on different cars; some tune don't.

I tried about 4 different tunes before I said "forget it" and took a stock tune and dialed it in myself (part throttle). After my own experiences, I don't understand how ANYONE could use a mail order tune with your confidence.

Trust people who have been there, done that - your tune ain't perfect. You can keep telling me (everyone) I don't know what I'm talking about, or you can go out and work on your car.

Good luck,
Ryan

I didt just put in pcmforless's tune and say its done! A buddy of mine that specializes in tuning went back over their stuff and retuned it some more. He thinks I have an electrical problem.
