No Oil Pressure No Start???? Help
Yesterday I was driving car was running fine good oil pressure and good coolant temp. and all of a sudden my car shuttered and stalled upon leaving a light. I was stopped and car was idling fine, then I take off and my car dies. Tried restarting but no oil pressure and car wouldnt start. did crank over and try to start but it would just diesel crazy so i turned it of because it sounded BADDD.
Its at the shop right know. Any guesses.
My guess is oil pump or Timing Chain? ANY help would be good.\
And if any of those should I replace anything else at the same time?
I just rebuilty my t56 and put a new kevlar clutch so I plan on keeping the car for a long time
its a 1994 lt11 m6 with 160K on it.
Thanks

I don't know that I'd read much into the lack of oil pressure, unless the motor lost oil pressure before it stopped running--if the motor's only cranking it wouldn't develop any oil pressure to speak of. If it's firing and sounding like a diesel, the timing chain couldn't have broken completely, since the cylinders with their intake valves sitting open would have no compression (any charge that was fired would just blow back out the intake), and the cylinders with the intake valves closed would have no fresh mixture to fire. The chain could have slipped one or more teeth though, if it's worn out enough. In that case a new timing set (chain and sprockets) would be indicated.
The other thing I would look into is the Optispark distributor and its wiring to the PCM--this is not unlike what happened to my engine due to a faulty PCM connector that carries the low and high resolution signals from the opti. Engine dies suddenly, when I try to start it I get backfiring and piston slap noises, sometimes it will keep running and sounding horrible. When I reseat the connector it starts and runs normally again.
