Unhappy No oil pressure at idle when car is warmed up?

hey fellas
well the oil pressure is fine when the car is cold, and it is very cold here lately, so it takes a while for the engine to get warm but when it does the RPMs seem a little low and the oil pressure gauge goes to 0. The check gauge light goes on as well?
any ideas? Oil level is fine
thanks

Ouch
Hopefully its the sensor or the gauge, not something to do with the pump. Has it been doing this for a while? It seems that the older these cars get the oil pressure drops some, and of course 60 @ startup is 20 @ warm idle, but the minimum is 6 psi for every 1k rpm (I think). Definitely something to check out just to make sure your engine is getting oil. If you don't check it out you should have money ready for a 383

don't run it again till you can get an oil pressure guage hooked up to it and figure out if its the sensor or your pump

I would put a manual gauge on it..One port is right by the oil filter, and another port is on the back of the intake, I think..Sounds like a oil sending unit...I had this similar problem a few years ago on my 94'z.

Mine does the same thing. Maybe it's because I have 155k on the clock.

Put some 50w in it and sell the car, or plan for a rebuild. My bet is that its not the sending unit. I had a friend with the exact same problem, peope said "oh, i bet its the sending unit", but he kept driving it and ended up throwing a rod.

DONT DRIVE THE CAR AT ALL, untill you find out for sure if its the sending unit or somethign else.

You'll forgive me if I don't ever want to buy a car from you, right?

would a manual oil pressure gauge be able to tell me if its the pump or now?
i mean if the oil pressure is normal, its the sending unit or gauge right?
thanks

i've got the same problem bro. oil pressure mid level @ the start up but once it reaches normal operating temps the pressure drops drastically and sometimes into the redzone. it's had a top end rebuild but everything else stock. i wuz running 5w 30 but changed to 10w 30 and the problem iz still there so not sure if it's the pump or sensor or sending unit or wut...oh and the needle sometimes shoots way off the gauge to...go figure i need help lol

OP did you figure out what the issue was with your ride? I am having the same issue. Car warms up and every once in a while when in idle at a stop light it either drops a little and comes up or just drops a little. Until i give it gas to take off. Drives fine sounds great, idles great in park.

Id post a thread on it but only once in a purple or green moon do I see any help...thanks in advance OP.

Considering that he posted that 6.5 years ago and last logged in 3.5 years ago, perhaps you'll just have to break down and make your own thread.
