Question No gasket between Opti and timing cover??

I'm in the process of replacing plugs/wires/opti/water pump and I noticed when I removed the opti that there wasn't any gasket of any sort (unless dirt and grime count) between the Opti and the timing cover. I don't know why, but it seems like there should be one there...
Is there a reason that there isn't a gasket between the Opti and the timing cover??
Would anyone suggest creating a gasket (rtv) to keep out moisture/ dirt/etc??

Thanks
Steve

There should be a gasket in the timing cover around the opti drive shaft. That's all there is.

Re: No gasket between Opti and timing cover??

Thank you sir... I guess other than around the opti drive shaft, no other gasket is necessary...
Thanks again,
Steve
