Nitto extreme drags aren't enough...time for e.t.'s??

I've driven the Z acouple times since the headers and true duals went in.....I don't think the nitto extreme drags(275/40 17's) are going to be enough. granted, I didn't do any 15 second burnouts but even hitting the gas at a 20 role they would go up in smoke, and keep spinning as it shifted to second.

My question: what is the next step up in traction? Are street slicks the next thing?

P.S. I can't friggin believe how much of a difference long tubes made!!! It feels like a totally different car. Its hard for me to believe that a 25 horse increase feels like that! Can't wait until I get the nitrous hooked up.

tires arent the only things that affect traction. I would invest some money in suspension first.

What was the temp out when you had traction problems with the Nitto's? Below 40 degrees my Nittos dont hook to well on the street. You're not going to get much better than those or BFG drs for traction in a "street" tire. I dont think too many people run around on ET streets or any full slick tire on the street, at least not as a daily driver I hope.

I was thinking temp outside was the problem.....it was right around 40. I thought the tires were decently warm because they were picking up every little pebble on the road and spitting them up into my wheel wells. I haven't done anything suspension wise yet, so thats probably another problem. Thanks for all the input. I guess the true test will come when I get to the track!!

drag radials will hold VERY well heated nicely, ppl cut 1.6-1.7 sixty foots on them.

what pressure were they?
i keep mine about 22psi for the street.

heck yeah the nittos hold i use them on my car and pull 1.6 60 ft times w/ no spinning, drop the pressure to like 15 psi or so!! also remember if you go to a e.t street you might hurt your 10bolt!!

I think the pressure was a problem too. I had them close to 30p.s.i. I had them in the low 20's and it looked like they were going to wear funny if I drove around like that??? Not that it will matter much anyways, I put less than 1000 miles on it per summer. Thanks again for the input. I think I'll stick with these and just play with the pressure, I don't want to be buyin a 12 bolt anytime soon(e.t. streets).

Temperature outside will definetly play a big role in a tires ability to hook up... That along with tire pressure should solve your problem.
