Lightbulb Nitto 555R's for a daily driver?

I'm really thinking about getting a pair of Nitto drag radials for my car. I only drive 18 miles/day round trip on the interstate to and from work. Other than that, it gets driven to the track on occasion, or a nice saturday night cruise. Street traction blows, and I need something better than what I have now.
Are these safe for a daily driven car?
Are they pretty predictable in the rain?
Should I go ahead and just order a pair then?

Nittos are great in the rain, and a pair can last 10k+ miles of daily driving.

Guy in my car club got 12k out of a set, and he was none too nice to them

Order you a set

The Nittos will last longer, handle better, and perform better on wet roads than the BFGs, but the BFGs will perform better at the track. So if it gets drive on the road often go with the Nittos. My set has about 12-13K miles on them and they are about shot, but they worked well. When they were new up till about 7Kmiles of use, they were great in rain! Now that theres no treads left in the center portion of the tire, its down right scary driving in rain. The nittos are still a stiff enough sidewall that they corner pretty well too. I love mine and will be getting a new set come spring.

From what I have heard the BFG DR's don't last very long, however my friend has a set of 315's on the back of his camaro and he doesn't drive it that much, and within this past year the tread has really went down and it's been to the track twice(one of the times they hooked so hard it killed the engine) I thought his tires would last longer.

Last year when there was tread on it, they were great in the rain, now however things can get a little interesting.

I've got a set of these on my car.
Unbelieveable traction with outstanding looks.

I don't believe I've ever heard of anyone using them for the street so I can't comment on the tread wear.

I've only put about 3000 on mine so far - with no wear at all.

See them on my car, in my sig.

I have BFGs and they're fine. I did split duty with the DRs and some G-Force KDWSs though. My buddy has 555Rs on his Stang and they hold up great for daily driving, even in the rain.

I have never had a problem, great traction, and good wear.

The Nittos are great. If you like driving aggressively in corners then get the 555R II tires. They have the same soft compound tire and tread with a reinforced side wall for hard cornering. It is the best of both worlds.

To get optimum wear with the tires on the street, you need to make sure that the tire pressures are not to high otherwise the tire will wear unevenly and the centers will wear out. I have my 275 40 17s set to 23 psi and they wear real evenly.

Get the Nittos! You will love them.

BFG are awesome tires with probably even better grip than the Nittos, but they wear out twice as fast.

So, are the DR II's better than the regular DR's? Are they exacty the same, yet have better handling, or do you sacrifcice something in exchange for the superiour handling of the DR II's?

Teh cheapest place I found was www.discounttiredirect.com and as for the DR II's you sacrifice sidewall flex, which gives you better launches, and more grip from stops.
