Nitrous or Heads and a Cam. Lets hear your thoughts...
I have never been so undecided on what to do to my car as this. Let me run down some things and then give me your opinion on what I should do.
My car right now has-
Suspension and Rear-End: BMR Boxed SFC, BMR Tubular LCA's w/ Relocating Brackets. An air bag on the right rear and the front sway bar removed. I run Royal Purple Synthetic and GM Motive 3.73 Gears.
Transmission: has been rebuilt 8000 miles ago, TransGo Shift Kit, TCI 2800 10" Stall Conveter, Engineering Suspension Tranny Mount and Torque Arm Bushing, Summit Tranny Cooler and runs Mobile 1 Synthetic.
Engine: The heads have been rebuilt with all new parts 4000 miles ago. They also include a 3 Angle Valve Job, Crane 10308-1 Spring Retainer Kit, ARP Head Bolts, ARP Screw-in Studs, Summit Guide Plates, Comp Cam Hardened Push Rods and Summit 1.6 RR's. It has a Moroso C.A.I., Jet TB Air Foil, Mezire Electric W.P. It has a new Harmonic Balancer. It has been changed to OBD1 and runs LT1 Edit.
Exhaust: Hooker Shorty Headers Cermaic Coated, ARP Header Bolts. Its the 94/95 Style. Cat Removed. Flwmaster Y-Pipe and S-Pipe with 3" Exhaust to the cut-out. It then ahs a Flowmaster 80 Sreies Muffler for town driving.
Wheels and Tires: Just Purchased a set of Weld Draglights 15x3.4 in the front and 15x8 in the rear with E.T. Streets.
My car has ran a best in the sig without the suspension work, and those wheels and tires along with the 3 inch exahust.
Alright now that I have made a book about my car it brings me to my point.. Do I add Nitrous or build up say a stroker to go in. I have recently purchased a set of LT1 bare castings heads that have been fully ported. Do I finish the heads and install a cam? That will run me about $1000 or do I build a stroker at $4000 and it will atke another year. Or do I sell the heads and buy a Wet Kit and run in the 11's with the flip of a swicth?
Your input is greatly appreciated. By the way, the engine has 110,000 miles.

its all about the MONEY!!
im definatly not speaking for everyone that uses N2O, but IM using it b/c i cant afford an NA application. if i had the $$$ i would without a doubt go NA. nitrous is great, but it puts more wear on the motor and requires more frequent rebuilds than a NA motor.
i say if you can afford the stroker, GO FOR IT! if not, then go with the juice.

I personally lean towards staying naturally aspirated. I would spent the money on maybe a nice 355 setup with a mean cam and some good rockers. Go with all forged internals, crank, rods, pistons, and bore that thing .030 over to refresh the sleeves. That way, it's like having a brand new engine. Plus, u will still be making a great horsepower per cuibic inch ratio witout having to mess with ur oil pan and etc. on a 383. If ur still looking for more power after that, then strap on the N20, and u can be damn sure ur engine can handle it
Well if it were me,i would go with the heads and cam and save up for the stroker motor and if the heads have a good porting job you can always reuse them on the stroker motor. At 110,000 miles i would stay away from the nitrous or you may need the stroker motor sooner that you thought,i know alot of guys have run nitrous with no problems but there are almost as many guys who have destroyed their motors with nitrous, lets face it the pistons in these LT1 motors are notorious for having weak ring lands and the extremely high cylinder pressures caused by the use of nitrous can break them not to mention the possibility of detonation.
The heads with no doubt in my mind will flow 280 + on the intake and 190 + on the exhaust at .600 lift. The have been fully ported and look awsome. I have to take them into a shop and for $185 they will give them a full competition valve job and cut for lrager valves. I will be running 2.00 Intake and 1.56 Exhaust. GTP in Houston Texas will be flowing the heads. I have all the parts to complete the heads in the heads that are on my car right now. Parts listed in the first post. I figured for about $450 I can have these heads ready to go with new Ferrara Valves and all the machine work and a bench flow. I could have these heads ready to go by June. I could then decide to go either with a 355 or 383. Seems to me doing the stroker will cost a few extra dollars over the 355.
