Re: NGK Spark Plugs

So are the TR55GPs a waste of money and another way of NGK making more money?

ngk 4091's, can't find the part number, its written down somewhere around here. O ok I got it. NGK R 5671A-7
Recommended by Lloyd for a lot of his head/cam kits. it is a recessed tip plug unlike the TR-6's but about the same heat range.

Thats actually a very good question lol. That was a quote coming from Lloyd about the 4091's he recommended. I asked about them and thats what he told me. Theres something different about the plugs. A lot of places say they won't work and weren't made for an LT1 but they work. Lloyd says he runs these plugs all the time and if you search, these are the plugs he recommends to everyone running his LE packages. The guy tuning my car referred to them as I beleive a gasket plug. Still doesn't mean anything to me and never heard that.

Re: NGK Spark Plugs

oh! so they are the kind that require a gasket. LT1's have whats called a conical seat, which means the part that contacts the head is like a lug nut. its diagonal cut, and centers itself into the head, and that is how its sealed. With a gasket type plug, its more like the lug nuts that you use with 1 ton trucks. Its just a flat washer that hits the rim, not conical at all... I hope this clears it up. I have no clue how the hell the gasket type could work on a conical designed head... but then again lloyd has been doing this for a while!

Re: NGK Spark Plugs

Well the guy tuning my car called it a gasket plug and didn't think they would work. But from looking at the plug I don't remember it looking any different.

Re: NGK Spark Plugs

The gasket style plug works, in addition to the tapered edge, the outer seat of the plug hole still has a flat surface for the gasket to mate to.

I run these with my LE2 heads, no issues, as do many others.
