Next mod??

Well its time to start saving up for my next mod and i'm wanting some help. This car is my daily driver so dont go to extreme. right now my mods are in my sig i have decided to do the pcm tuning next to eliminate my egr and air and see how much better my car runs i know maybe not the best mod but that i have decided on. But after that i was thinkin 1.6rr's then i was thinking a cam but im clueless when it comes to these two mods. Like what all do i need to install them and can i do the rr's then later do the cam or should i do them at the same time?? I know i will need a tune after but thats alright. Also what type of cam should i get? Any help on this will help and can u explain what a cam does exactly and rr's just curious

My opinion is, suspension mods.
You should be making decent power now so you need to hook it up or you will just sit and spin.
I got tired of losing races cause I could not hook up my power so the latest round of mods I did included an Eibach drag launch kit, KYB AGX adjustalbe shocks, some Weld Pro Stars with Nitto DRs, and a BMR adjustable Torque Arm.
Keep going with the engine mods and neglect your suspension and you won,t be happy with the results.
I think you should invest in some Sub Frame Connectors to stiffen up the chassis and help the car handle more power.

since it's an auto i think you'd get more SOTP feel from a torque converter and maybe gears.

those things alone should drop you .2 sec plus in the quarter...

and i second the suspension stuff, at least some lca and the subframes

Got a second vote for gears and a torque converter, and a third for suspension mods. lca's,sub-frame connectors and a adjustable torque arm....I personally like the Sphon one I had on my 93....all will help you put that power to the pavement.

LCA is short for "lower control arm", which keeps the rear tires planted during cornering and acceleration. The stock pieces are junk, and putting new LCAs won't lower your car. When combined with the LCA relocation brackets, it will really help with traction by keeping the tires planted. The relocation brackets are mostly for lowered vehicles so you don't have to get those, but I've heard that they will help even on a non-lowered vehicle.
By the way, on your next mods, my vote goes to gears+torque converter also.

I think gears need to be done by a professional unless you have all the equipment necessary to do the job right.

Like Bastardcat said, gears should be done by professionals. It is very hard to install gears for someone who has never done them. It is not like doing a TB bypass. If you don't get them done right, your gears will wear out prematurely anyways, so it is worth the money to get a pro to install them for you.
On what gears to go with, I say go with the 3.42s if it is a daily driver.

Vote for gears.

If it not going to see much dragstrip action , you should try some 3.42's.

If it going to be at the track more often than not, then I would go with 3.73's.

I realize you said you've already decided on a tune, but my vote is to reconsider the tune until after the cam.

Once you install the cam you'll need a tune anyway, so why pay for it twice?

Suspension mods are good, especially if you are severely traction limited (having problems hooking up now).

Gears are VERY good to upgrade if you're running a 2.73 like I am.

I ordered my gears the other day from Thunder and dude told me that if I plan to put a higher stall converter in the car later, I should go with 3.42s, if I'm sticking with the stock stall do 3.73s. Just thought I would pass that on...

If you do 1.6rr, you got to do springs too. I don't think the stock springs can take the lift from 1.6 rockers.

What gears are in your car now? If you've got the 3.23's, i wouldnt bother doing a gear change now. I'd go with the tourqe converter and some sticky tires.
