NEWBIE What are the first mods to the Camaro

I plan on buying a 1993-97 Camaro LT1 very soon, so what are the first mods that I should do to it, and what are they worth in HP/TRQ, and what` are the stock dyno numbers and stock 1/4 mile times?

Um, most people go with a cold air intake that is good for 10 or 15 rwhp... Moroso or K&N are most popular. 180 to your door if i remember correctly... its been so long . As for stock times, an M6 runs about a 14 flat if you can drive and puts down about 240-250 rwhp...

if you get a m6 go ahead n get you a good clutch and a 12 bolt. if you can drive pretty good a nitrous kit. that will be all you need to start off

Where did you get your cold air intake at?

If you buy on Ebay, be sure to only get a name brand cold air intake. There are some junk ones on there that heat up badly and are worse than stock.

Cold Air Intake, Cat Back Exhaust, Short Throw Shifter, and a New Gear. Thats your best bet for the most noticable difference for under 1,000.

Re: NEWBIE What are the first mods to the Camaro

I have seen some pretty nice cars for about $6k on autotrader, most of them have an auto, but compared to my Grand Prix GTP that is for sale, they are ALOT stronger. I drove a friend of mines this weekend, and decided against getting a Mustang. The Camaro I may get has an auto, would that change any of your opinions?

Did I read on here that someone put a Ford 8.8 rear in their Camaro? I am hoping I read that right because those rear ends are pretty cheap, and pretty easy to swap gears out of.

So how much HP/TRQ can the stock Camaro rearend take?

So I should get a CAI first (K&N), and a Cat back exhaust, and gears? Right so far?
