New Track Times...disappointed.

Humidity was in the mid 30's, and the temperature outside was 75 degrees. (beautiful night for racing.)

This was with M/T ET streets also. I had no spin off the line, and it hooked great. Its like she's just not making the horsepower. Mods in sig...what do you guys think? I think I'm slow! Before I did headers, off-road y-pipe, cutout and programming, I ran a best at 13.52 @101. I should be faster, not slower.

1st pass:

1.95 - 60'
13.40 @ 102.97 MPH (best pass ever.)

2nd pass:

1.98 - 60'
13.46 @ 102.74 MPH

3rd pass:

2.01 - 60'
13.54 @ 102.51 MPH

4th pass:

2.06 - 60'
13.50 @ 102.97 MPH

5th pass:

2.01 - 60'
13.66 @ 101.58 MPH

I don't know what to do. I'm at a loss here guys.

Doesnt seem right to me. I trap 103 almost 104 with my mods. I'd expect your car to trap higher and run closer to 13.2 give or take a tenth.

welcome to the world of drag racing. there are so many things that can affect your times by a couple tenths easily. my car runs almost a tenth quicker with the fuel near E than it does with half a tank. those runs were the same night about ten minutes from each other.

my thinking would be not enough air in, the exhaust by your sig seems to be flowing out, need more air coming in, just a guess ,but might be worth looking at

You definiately need a converter. I think you have lost a bit of low-end, and you might get lower short times.
Going to the track is always a big surprise. Negative or positive

you got a new best.. How much cool off time between runs' did you give your car? Your mph is a lil' low.. but the air might not have been completely there.. Good run's..

I allowed about 45 minutes of cooling time between runs. The 13.40 pass was at the car's coolest. I trailered the car to the track and that time was right off the trailer.

What else could I do to help with air in? I already have K&N....is there something else I should be doing? Although my air filter is about 3 years old ( been cleaned a lot though. )

I thought my trap speeds were a little off too. Opti going maybe?

Your times are not bad. You really don't have many performance mods. Gears & headers and CAI are rally your only HP. You need a converter bad. I think those et streets are hurting your mph a bit but with a 2800-3000 converter you would probably in the high 12's which would be great for a few boltons. All you need to do is cut your 60' time down to 1.7's and you will be there. All of you ET will be in the first 1/8th mile and you need to work on that. Later Clint

I have run @ 101mph Doing 13.6 's with few mods, and 13.3's with some more mods but never got 102 mph. my thoughts are that your car is quick rather than fast, if you know what i'm trying to say. that might sound stupid but it makes sence to me. I personally could care less about trap speed as long as the time is good. My $.02

I agree, there are a lot of things that could effect your times. You should really compare what you were running vs. what other LT1's were running that night (if there were any).

I don't think your times are off at all. Headers, cat back, and CAI basically for power mods... The ET Streets may actually cost you a mph because of increased rolling resistance. How much air did you put in them. At your power level you should be able to keep 20 pounds in there and dead hook every time. You should probably roll with 40 in the fronts too to decrease rolling resistance.

I really think your ET's are just about right. Anything can kill a couple of tenths as has already been pointed out. When was the last time you cleaned you air filter? The little stuff all adds up and simply 45 minutes between passes can cause a half a tenth change simply due to weather, easily.

Without a stall that may be the best he will get no matter what tire unless he has some instane power he is making. But for his minimal mods that is good IMO. A stall then he will be seeing some low 1.7 or even high 1.6 60' time...
