New track times

94z a4 with hotcam, 1.6rrs, ewp, bbk shorties and y pipe, lcas, flowmaster muffler, gutted cats, MSD opti, and nittos 450 got me an ET of 8.46 @ 84.5 mph with a 1.98 60 ft.. So what do yall think?

Plans for the near future are nitto 555 (coming next week), and possibly heads. I dont know if stock tranny or rearend can handle that much HP. what do yall think?

Re: New track times

~ a 13.1-13.2 in the 1/4, not bad. Now get some dr and a vig2800-vig3200 and that thing will be flying.

Re: New track times

It should do a little better than that. My T/A used to run 7.90's in the 1/8th with the Hotcam kit, shortie headers, mailorder tune, vig 2800 converter and stock 3.23 gears on some drag radials. It also ran 8.20's on regular radials just FYI. It takes some time and practice to make these cars run quick so keep at it. Later Clint

Re: New track times

yeah the stall helps alot and drs. What kinda of 60fts were you cutting to run 8.20s. Did you have the stall when you ran that 8.20???

And also are you on stock tranny, and rearend with that stall????

Re: New track times

It kills me when people start compairing ET's in different parts of the country especially when there is no clue of elevation, track and weather conditions.

Re: New track times

I agree that that's smokin' for a stock 1600 converter. Especially with a cammed car.

Oh, ok! The question mark threw me off. Like you were doubting it, or something!

Re: New track times

Yeah that with stock stall and nitto 450's (there street tires not the DRs). And for elevation, im in mid NC so thats pretty low, temp was around 80, that all i can tell you.

I plan on going to a really good track at the begininng of Oct. so i should be around 8.3's with that stock stall. I'll let you guys no.

BTW anyone know where i could get a plexiglass back hatch, carbon fiber or fiberglass hood, or anything else that will reduce weight besides pulling ac and heater out.

Re: New track times

Dude,
Just get a cheapo converter like I did at first. I went 12.10 with a 130 dollar 2600 stall from Oregon performance transmissions on EBAY. It worked great and they aren't too bad to install - especially if you did the Hotcam yourself. It will do wonders for you BELIEVE me!

Re: New track times

Im worried about the rearend and the tranny. Im afraid they want hold and if they break, I could be down awhile. And ive been down for about three months, just got her back together after some horrible electrical problems.

I tried to find out if anyone has been successful and not break anything but could not find anything? I even posted in the drivetrain form.

Re: New track times

I don't think you will have problems until you get up in the 3000 stall range with the stock rearend. The torsen diffy seems good although my friend's lunched the worm gear after a 1 wheel burnout (no water in water box). I don't know which you have. He even has a 3500 stall with Nitto's cutting 1.70's and hasn't broken it since the new torsen unit was installed. I have heard that the 10 bolt 3.73 gear is stronger than the 4.10 gear if you plan to upgrade at some point. Wheel hop is especially hard on things too so try to eliminate that if at all possible. Of course, 1.9x 60's probably indicate no wheel hop yet. Remember, new Moser's or Stranges or whatever you choose are big bucks but so is lunching a built 10 bolt. It's a tough decision. I would start putting some money away here and there so if it does grenade, you'll be ready. I'm gonna say though that for now no worries.
