New tires , what pressure?

i have stock rims, new kuhmo ecsta 711's245's all around, my question is, what pressure do i fill them up to. They are max 40psi. And the guy at dunn tire filled them up to about 39 all around. is this right? ive always thought you do not fill them up to the max psi, and to keep them at about 32-34.

thanks

It's on the driverside door. If you have Z rated tires it is 35 lb.

Its 30psi, 35 is if you are doing driving for extended periods of time at high speed.

God people get this wrong all the time. I work at a tire store and people tell me what they keep the pressure at in their cars all the time. Makes me laugh. This guy came in the other day and said "well it says 50 lbs. max, so thats what I air em to", manufacturers specs called for 28lbs and he had 10k miles on a new set of $800 tires and they were ruined. Anyway stock pressure for 4th gens is 30 in front and rear. I usually keep mine at 32 though. But yeah max is the most you can air the tire up to without it blowing. Also to much pressure will result in the center of the tread wearing prematurely. -------------> Brad

Exactly what kind of car tire sells for $200 each and got ruined by running 50psi? Most all high speed rated tires have a carcass stiff enough to run at that psi for more than 10k miles. Rarely will you see a z or higher rated tire with 50psi that is bowing in the center unless it's on a rim too narrow.
