New tire time.

I have a 96 SS Convertible (as you can tell by my user name), all stock. I am looking for suggestions on what tire I should get. I am looking to spend between $100-$150 each. I would like a stiff tire that doesn't feel like a sponge through a corner with a good balance between traction and treadwear. I currently have Kumho ECSTA Supra. My current tire size is 245/50ZR16 - any suggestions on a different size. One more thing, it has to look "sporty" - it can't look like the tires on a family sedan.

I dont know how many people use these, but I have Falken Ziex 245/50/16s and they are great. I have cuz 2.0xx 60 footers on these bone stock. The tread wear isnt bad either, ive had them for over a year now and I do my fair share of burnouts and such.

Tire Rack has Firestones SZ50s on sale right now, $116 each for your size. They have a very good reputation. I just ordered a set myself.

I've had both the Firestone SZ50s, and Kumho Ecsta Supra 712s. I'd recommend either. the Kumhos are significantly cheaper, but i couldn't tell any difference between those or the Firestones.

I'd get either one of these.

when i needed new tires, i went ahead and got new rims too, slp has a really good offer on rims/tires right now. Theyre 275 and Eagle F1s. For the prices on mounting and balencing it was almost cheaper for me to go this way(plus i needed an excuse to get rid of the salad shooters lol)

i did the same thing

cant beat that deal

local shops wanted 1300 for the tires out the door. i ended up paying 970 shipped for mounted and balanced take offs.

so i paid for 3 tires and got the 4th free. and slp was kind enough to give me a set of rims to go along with it.
