Question New Times, same problem...

I had 3 runs tonight w/in .06 seconds of each other so I'm only going to post the best one:

RT .004
60' 1.958
1/8 8.331@83.51
1/4 13.025@105.52

Not bad right? Maybe if I still had bolt-ons.
My best time with bolt-ons only was 13.2@103 on street tires.
Now with drag radials I figure that would be good for 13.0-13.1.
But my problem is not only do I have drag radials, but I have an electric wp, a new cam, 1.6 RR, new springs, and chip. I should be running 12.5-12.7 easy. And the weather is almost identical between my bolt-on time and tonight.
I ran identical times tonight with the stock chip and the new chip, so this is not my problem. I recorded all of the runs with Datamaster if I need to compare later. I think I might need to adjust the valve lash, I hear some ticking from the engine but it may be a slight exhaust leak at my header gasket. I don't know...what could it be.

try to get that 60 down to 1.6.....i believe whenever you drop your 60 by 0.1sec you drop the 1/4 ET by 0.2sec

Yeah I'm still working on the launch, every time I launch it seems like I can get more out of it. I still think I should be running better though. I ran my 13.2 bolt-on time with a 2+ 60' time..

How much affect do poorly adjusted rockers have on power?
Mine are making an awful lot of noise and I have stuttering issue, whcih is really noticable in 4th gear beteen 40-45mph. Is this a symptom of loose rockers?

Re-do the valve lash.

Are you spinning? If so, that's costing you ET AND MPH. Spinning automatic = lower trap. You WILL pick up a few tenths and mph just by cutting a 1.6.

****, I can do the valve lash at Moroso if you want.

What tires you runnin'?

Mine had a stutter in OD when the converter was locked kinda lugging along...Turned out to be a burned plug wire...

Re: New Times, same problem...

I have M/T ET Street Radials and I really had no spin on my 3 best runs, although I think I can still launch better (in fact these were 3 of by best 4 60' times ever).

I had an exhaust leak in my header collecters I thought was causing false O2 sensor readings. I fixed that and checked all the wires and still have the problem. I checked the valves yesterday and some do seem tight on the driver side and the pass. side makes a lot of loud clack-clack sounds. I wanted to try to adjust them, but I can't get the pass. side valve cover off with the alternator on. I played with the driver side, it seems better....maybe? I can't really tell, I've never done this before. I think I might just take it to the shop to dial in the valves.
