New Stroker won't run.
I got my my motor in the other night finally. I tried to start it and it will fire on some cylinders but not enough for it to run. If i give some throttle, it will stay running, very roughly. I checked my plug wires and my opti and coil are both new. I scanned if for codes and it had none. I think because it never runs long enough to throw one. My pcm was programmed by pcmforless. Any ideas what could be wrong? The only thing that i can think is that if have my rockers too tight. They are comp Rs and i went 1/4 turn past 0 lash. Please help.

Here is what Combination motorsports told me to do with my comp Rs. Take valvecover off and finger tighten all rockers down(do not use any tools here), next start the car and adjust the rockers with tools with the car running. For me this worked like a charm and now it is the only way I will adjust them on these cars.

A bad vacuume leak will give the effect you are having as well, I would also check your injector wiring to make sure you have each one on the right inj, check plug wire routing, check ECM ground on the block.

Ok guys, I adjusted my rockers to 0 lash and still didnt help. I finally got the car to throw a code. It is code 16 which I think is low resolution. Does this mean that my opti is bad? Please help me. The car will only run if i give it some throttle and it runs very rough.

i have access to gm's tech site and i'll look up the code for ya
i don't understand how u guys have ur rockers adjusted like that,,,
i have comp r lifters and comp 1.6 rockers, i have mine adjusted 1 full turn past zero lash and it ran fine, just for ****s i then adjusted them to 1/4 past zero and they were so loud i was embarrassed to drive it.
i had a similar problem, kinda. mine ran but ran ****ty, my opti was good and i ohmed my wires and they were all good. but one of them was cut and was shorting out on the bottom of my altenator.

Re: New Stroker won't run.
Im having trouble right now also. I've just installed a new cam and lt4 heads and intake. I found my problem was a bad vacuum leak from the underside of the intake. I didn't realize the plugs were missing from the bottom of the intake. The car was pulling air from the lifter valley. Try unplugging your mass air but be ready to shut it off quickly. If the car revs up really high without the mass air plugged in you have a vacuum leak. With the mass air plugged in the computer thinks your only getting a small amount of air and only supplies enough fuel for that amount of air. With the mass air unplugged the computer has no idea how much air your getting and trys to compensate for the lean condition with alot of gas. This is my theory and may be wrong but I do know that unplugging the mass air is a quick way to troubleshoot. My car at first would rev up to a few thouand rpms and die right away but would run with a little feathering of the gas but really rough. Hope this helps.
