New shocks.....any suggestions (looking for ride comfort)

Hi, I replaced my original shocks with the SLP takeoffs a year ago, and the ride seems to be getting worse. I am looking for shocks that are going to improve the overall ride comfort on rough roads.

I was thinking the HAL adjustable shocks so I could have performance when I wanted and comfort the rest of the time. Does anyone reccommend the HAL's for this type of appication.

Just put on a set of HD Bilsteins and they feel nice. I was running a set of take-offs, too.

I had a set of Hals as well at one time and the Bilsteins feel a bit like them with the Hals at a certain setting. The Hals are not gas charged like the stock and Bilsteins are and have a little bit more
"taut" feel in rebound. The higher settings on the Hals are rock hard and would likely only be used under extreme circumstance. So far the Bilsteins seem like a nice compromise with my Hotchkis springs.

Thanks Shoebox,
I had never looked into them and now am liking what I see so far about them.

If you don't mind my asking where did you get yours and how much were they?

Thanks again for the reply!! Anyone else have any thoughts or comments? Anyone like the KYB shocks better?

im using kyb 8 way adjustables in the front and tokico 5 way adjustables in the rear. ive never been in a car with hals or bilstiens so i cant compare but i love my set up. i got them both set to max and i have absolutley no over or understeer problems. and the ride isnt too bad either, but i was going for performance anyways. if you have the money and want adjustables id say go for hals, 12 way adjustable, ride hieght control and rebuildable.

Im running the bilstein hd's too.. Bought them from Zimmer Bimmer parts too.. But mine came to $297 shipped.
Im using stock coils with the bilsteins.
Im happy with them and would recommend them for people who want excellent all around shocks that u dont have to mess with.

I'm buying Bilstien HD's from www.bimmerparts.com as well. They told me it was $300 shipped for the full set. That's pretty much the best price out there!

Wow thanks guys, thats a steal compared to the other prices I have seen for them! I will most likely be using them with the stock springs, i would like to go with the DMS springs but am afriad, that again I'd be losing ride quality. Thanks again!

Well I guess they really are the way to go, and a great price too! Any of you guys have DMS springs AND bilsteins? Thats what I would like to do but am afraid I'd loose some comfort if I lower it.
