New Pulley-Driven LT1 Water Pump Conversion

Check this out:

Kind've interesting. According to the description it needs 8.5" of clearance in front of the stock water pump to fit. Might be doable in an F-body if the radiator was mounted straight up. I'm not too sure about their claim that a mechanical fan provides better cooling capacity than electric fans though...

Might open up some interesting possibilities with using SBC aftermarket accessory brackets however...

There is no need for that in the 4th gen, IMO. It's for swaps to other cars. Our cooling systems are perfectly adequate in stock form.

Well they lost my confidence when they said the Caprice police package fan. ALL the 94-96 9C1s which were the LT1 opional years and that is the police package option code got DUAL ELECTRICS. It was the tow package cars that got the mechanical option and anyone vaguely interested in performance swaps that damn thing out for the electrics. The clutch on it is so tight you can't have a conversation outside the car with it idling sounds like a tornado coming by. It uses a second serpentine belt to drive the fan NOT the accessory one. My wagon came with this setup and all but the bracket over the WP is long off the motor, that bracket is staying till I need to remove it for some reason.
