New PCM just came in the mail!!!11 Install questions...
Re: New PCM just came in the mail!!!11 Install questions...
It is one of the easiest things you can do to your car. Just unbolt the old PCM and remove the harnesses, then put the new one in just the opposite of what you just did. The PCM is located on the passenger side top of the engine bay, near the firewall.

Ya, a good set of sockets is a real need for working on your car. I guess I just assumed that you had one
Buying tools is kinda fun for me, anymore...just one less thing I have to borrow everytime I buy something new. Make sure to buy a good set, with alot of sockets in both standard and metric, and different drives sizes, ratchets, extensions, etc. You will be really happy you have all this stuff when it comes time that you need it.

It's simple but mine dint seem to want to fit back in the whole when going back in. Just be patient if yours is difficult...It'll fit, just may take a little wiggling.

2) I have had tools in the past my brothers take them lose them or in the case of my last socket set broke both the drives and lost about half the sockets.
edit: haven't done any wrenchign on my own cars in a coupel years here at the house. One of my good friends is a mechanic so I use his shop on weekends occassionally. But I didn't feel like bugging him over this...and I needed to get new sockets anywyas for the reason listed above.

Here's a quote from my FAQ. Hope it helps:
How do I remove and install the PCM in my car? Is it complicated?
Removing and installing the PCM is very easy and most anyone could do it themselves.
For a 94-97 car, you will need a 10mm socket, a ratchet and a small extension. Before you do any work with the PCM, I would recommend either pulling the PCM BATT fuse or disconnecting the negative battery terminal.
On F-bodies, the PCM is located under the hood on the passenger side, near the firewall. It is held in place with two 10mm bolts. Take those bolts out, then pull out the PCM assembly. There will be four connectors attached to it. Each of the four connectors should have a red plastic retainer on it. Pull all of them out, then using a flat head screwdriver or pocket knife, pry out the connector lip from the PCM case, then pull out the connector.
Install in reverse order.

Re: New PCM just came in the mail!!!11 Install questions...
I bought a complete set of sockets (metric and standard) from Sears for $29.99 with a driver, extension, swivel, etc. Of course it was that crappy Companion brand - but iwas in a pinch lol. Often times at Ace hardware here they have a bin with sockets sets etc for around $5.
