new opri spark
new opri spark
i have put on a new opti. now the car will not start. it is a 94 so it has the small shaft with a tooth missing for alignment. the opti slide all the way to the block before the screws so i know it is right. it is not even trying to fire. i checked the coil and it is fine read 8000 ohms. what should i do. four off the plug wires going into the opti click 3 times as they go on(drivers side0. the ones on the passenger side do not click even once, but the boot is pretty much in the same position. i have iuel coming out of the shrader valve on the fuel rail. i also check ed the pti connection to see if iw in good and it is fine no corrosion. i reallly think i replaced a good optispark after inspection. have heard my trouble is the fuel filter but now that i have done the opti switch i can not get it to restart. help!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Check the plug that sends the signal to the computer it is located on the top left of the opti when looking at it from the front. I have left this off before. If that is ok then make sur all the wires are run correctly.
are you talking about the only connection besides plug wires? if not then yes i forgot i. but if it is the plug with the four wires i mentioned checking it above. i do not see any thing else though. i di forget this when i was running all the wires the firsat time thoyugh. once it is all back together you can not se it
I know it sounds like a lot of work, but your best bet is to start over. I just changed out my 94Z Opti about a month and a half ago. When I replaced the Opti, the car would click but wouldnt ignite. I thought everythign was hooked up but it wasnt. At first, it was two ground wires (driver side, hook up with the bolts that hold on the Coil..two of them) and the power to the Opti (top left, blue connector (just like the water pump, except the Opti wire has 4 prongs in it, WP only has 2 I believe). Once those were in, it still didnt work. I uninstalled everything! Even after putting new coolant in. After rechecking the positioning of the dowl, I actually got up IN the engine compartment and checked inside the timing cover thing. After the reinstall, she fired right up. 9 times out of 10, when doin your own Opti install, Ive found its the installation. Like I said, it sounds like a hassel, but its worth a shot if you have time. Uninstall and Reinstall everything. Then check. The 'clicking' of the wires onto the Opti, dont really matter in my experience. Some do, some dont. Just as long as they are connected flush as far as they will go. Good luck !
...by the way..did you mention it wont even click when you turn over the ignition?? As if you have total power loss? make sure the battery is hooked up good
