New Offroad Y-Pipe for LT1's!!

Got the new edition of Summit and on page 192, seems they are now carrying some y-pipes for LT1's. Have both a ORP and a cat pipe. Whos gonna be the guinea pig for it and see how the quality is on it? Hell, as far as I know, its the only ORP for the dual cat LT1's out there, and its only $200 for an aluminum and $300 for stainless. Whats the difference other than the materials? Is one better than the other? :sighs:

Stainless is a more expensive material (obviously) because it will last (more or less) the life of your vehicle and not rust out. Aluminum can rust and is a softer material. That's one reason Borla is so expensive, they use all stainless. It all depends on what you want, if you are going to get a y-pipe and keep it for a long time, go for stainless, you won't have to replace it.

I believe they are made by a company called Stainless Works here in NE Ohio. They are 2.5" y-pipes based upon the old IRS y-pipe.

www.stainlessworks.net

If you go to their webpage, looks under New Products, then GM, 3rd link down, they have a picture of it.

How much difference do you guys think 2.5" to 3" makes, power-wise?

Will this work with the stock manifolds like the 3" borla y-pipe for 94/95 cars? Is it 3"? Sorry I didn't get the new mag yet.

I don't know what the Stainless Works Y-pipe costs in Summit, but on their website, they list it as $229. It is a 2.5" pipe, whereas the Borla pipe is 2.75" and I have found it as low as $159-Keep in mind this is for the stock manifolds, not headers. I suppose that you would lose some low-end torque with the Borla, but I'm positive that you would gain some top-end out of it. MAC also makes a y-pipe, and it is 2.5" as well for $149.99. I have been looking into one, but I haven't really heard of anyone using them, so I haven't been so sure about dropping the cash. Also, the mechanics out here are asses, and they seem to think that if I change the y-pipe and go with a 3" cat, that they are going to wind up in jail!

I will have one by the end of the month to replace my crappy off-road pipe that I have for my Hooker LT's. I'll post about it.
