Your link just goes to the main page, not to whatever you're talking about.
Re: new mobile 1 oil 5k 7500 and 15k miles between changes
i searched the site and the only info i could find was on the main page i have been using mobile 1 fully synthetic for 5 years now and i change it every 2500 miles on every car i own and the old oil is always black and burnt looking. im not nocking it its by far the best oil on the market and i will use it for aslong as i have a car.

I dunno i just dont see what working too well. I mean oil is used for cleaning and cooling asside from lubricating. It's still going to get dirty i think. Thats like some new underwear advertising fabric that allows you to wear them for a week straight without bathing. I still dont think you could go more than 3,000 miles without changing your filter.
Re: new mobile 1 oil 5k 7500 and 15k miles between changes
I think its ridiculous, it makes me wonder how much they're going to charge for the 15k oil which is probably the same formula synthetic they've been using for a few years. Now they get to charge a dollar or two more per quart.
Re: new mobile 1 oil 5k 7500 and 15k miles between changes
According to their site the 5000 is a dyno oil...the 7500 is a blend and the 15k is a full synthetic...wonder what its going to cost on my next oil change

Hmmmm GM must be full of BS too...........
The Vette (LS1,LS2,LS6) has the scedualed oil drain at every 15,000miles on Mobil 1, it was 10,000miles previously and that was in 1997, trust me the owners manual says this. BTW the owners manual which is read far too little is written by engineers that know these parts better than your..... well I'm not going there.
Hell I've been leaving Mobil 1 in my LS1 for 7,500miles minimum it's whole life and it's perfect. I take it out then mostly because I want to change the filter at that point and I seriously beat on the motor. It's the same old Mobil 1 I would guess, they finally got smart and decided to market the thing for it's economical superiority. 5 quarts of $5 oil and one filter sure beat 25 quarts of $2 oil and 5 oil filters, plus the labor that most people have to pay.
Sad thing is that the only reasoning that we as american consumers think 3,000miles is needed is due to oil company marketing for years upon years. The europeans have been doing the long term oil drains for years now, which I think is a great idea, less wasted oil is better for the environment. Even better is the use of full synthetics since they can go 3-5 times as long as traditional oil and they don't use any of our precious dino oil that we could use as gasoline.
Just a few thoughts

Re: new mobile 1 oil 5k 7500 and 15k miles between changes
ive been useing mobil 1 syn for years now and always changed it at least 7500 miles, never a problem, now that they have the new endurance oils that can last up to 15000 miles its a no brainer for me, once the oil is due again im changing all my cars to the new stuff
Re: new mobile 1 oil 5k 7500 and 15k miles between changes
BTW
A Good detergent oil picks up dirty in the oil and brings it to the filter or traps it so it doesn't cause harm.
If my oil is not black when I take it out I'm running the wrong oil.
I still don't like the $45 I spend on my own oil change that I do myself every time I change the oil, when I positively know that it can be in there longer but at least I get twice as much for my dollar and time (at minimum of $35 hr)
I change the oil at 7,500 miles because the motor just seems to run smoother lol, seriously I always feel that it runs better on new oil and at a point the roughness bothers me.
I should get my oil tested after these long runs and abuse with temps that approach zero degrees, it would be suprising to show how little abuse and wear actually occurs.
Guys for the most part you are just fed Quick Change BS on most of these things. Changing it early is not going to hurt the motor, true, but it will waste more oil and polute the environment.
BTW you ever see that metalic junk on the end of your drain plug, most times thats moly from the oil and motor. Same stuff ARP uses in it's thread lubricant too to get accurate TQ readings.

Re: new mobile 1 oil 5k 7500 and 15k miles between changes
imagine if alot more people use these high endurance oils, and leave it in there cars for almost a year, it will put alot of these quick oil lube companys out of buisness, like you bret ive always changed my own oil, and it might cost 45 to 50 bucks, but in the long run its a no brainer of the positives you get with engine life and less pollution
