new maf? jet-granetillie-gm

I just removed the stock housings on my MAF, mounted it on the CNC and machined it out. Made a huge difference. I would certainly machine one for you if you are willing to cover the cost for the time. Why pay so much for the granatelli when its nothing more than a stock sized housing machined out?
I can do these for $50 easy all day long.

yea dude dont waste your money buying a granatelli! TRUST ME this is coming from someone who has researched it and i used to have a granaitelli and it didn't help me anymore than when i just had my stock maf ported out.. so don't even waste your time... just port out your stock maf and remove the screen..
oh and i can guarntee you people will post NOT to even touch the maf but that's BS cause it CAN BE DONE and the STOCK MAF IS A RESTRICTION...

My thoughts exactly!!
I chased gremlins and posted questions about how to fix everything the first three weeks I had my Z.... Now I am finding all the easy free mods. Boring and polishing the MAF makes a difference you feel.

well i need a new one. my prongs or whatever they are are bent the car is running way to rich. i did not need a grantellie or a jet power flo. i just need one so i figure i should find out which is cheapest then i am not looking for performance with the maf just one that works maybe these are cheaper than gm ones though because dealer item can get pricey

I bought my "New" replacement at a local junk yard. they had it nicely cleaned and on the shelf. Even gave me a 30 day no hassle return. Try returning an electronic part at your local Auto Parts store.
With the extra original, I bored it out and now have a very good performing stock MAF for less than $50!!
Let me know if you need one. I can pick one up from the salvage lot for $45.00 plus a six-pack in effort.

Well you bolt it down on a centered table after you have written a program from numerous dimensions taken from the part. Then you enter all these little numbers into a computer and push the "Run" key once. If everything is okay... you will soon have a lovely machined part.
OR... You can send your MAF to me with a $fitty dollar bill and I will do it for you.

Is the size of the stock MAF smaller than the TB, e.g., a 58MM? If so, I can agree that it may constitute a restriction.
However, if the MAF is larger, how can it constitute a restriction?
The MAF sensor needs to report all the air that is going through it in order for the PCM to do its thing.
If you nullify the sensors output by porting the MAF, how can the PCM know how much air is flowing?
I opbviously don't know the answers to these questions. I am just curious about the MAF being a restriction.

The factory program is one, too rich to start with and... two, you are introducing more airflow which will be read by the MAF by changing its value. remember that the amount of pressure you can introduce into the intake is directly related to the velocity of the airflow you can get through the air intake system. The lower the velocity the greater the pressure. This is what you want. When you put something like that huge bridge in the MAF you are restricting its overall size and thus speeding up the air which lowers its pressure.
Remember this... High seeks a low. When your engine makes one revolution, it creates a vacuum until you open the throttle to WOT. Then you hoping the the air pressure in the intake system is at a higher pressure to fill the lower pressure in the intake. This is where power is created. Think about ram tuned intakes and stuff like that. Why does the Moroso CAI work so well...? Because it is large enough to slow the air and increase its pressure before the throttle body.
