Hello all.. as the sig says I just transplanted a 96 LT1 into my 82 fbody.. converted to OBD1..

Yesterday after changing to a meziere electric water pump the car made an interesting noise on startup.. at first I thought my roller rockers were out of adjustment but it went away after say 3-4 minutes of idle..

the sound was a fairly loud (hood opened) tack-tack-tack noise.. seeming to emanate from under the motor.. no exhaust leaks.

Just wondering if this was the dreaded piston slap.. Never heard it before so don't know for sure.

chances are that its most likely a exh. leak or a flat lifter than need to pump up... LT1's are not one w/ piston slap like the LS1's are so frequently plaqued with.. Does it continue to happen? after every start up?

I need to listen to it again.. the oil was changed at that time as well but I filled the filter with a quart before putting it on..

Not exhaust as far as I can tell, everything is new and tight..

Had it out again today and it runs really well soo not too concerned.. tomorrow am I'll have another really good listen..
