New LT1 owner, have Qs

Finally! Picking up my new '94 Z28 tomorrow. One owner, 60,000 miles, stored winters, taken care of real well. After 3 years of my V6, I've finally joined the LT1 ranks . Have a couple questions tho. It's an M6, and I know that all LS1 6 speeds came with 3.42's standard. Is this also true of all LT1's? Do I have 3.42s, (please) or do I have something crappy like 2.73s? Also, I drove it a couple times, but obviously didn't have a chance to drive it too hard. The speedo goes to 150, this means I have no speed limiter, correct? Finally, '94 had MAF and SFI, right? I believe '93 was the last year of speed density, but let me know if I'm wrong. Well, that's all for the stupid noob questions for now. Can't wipe this smile off my face....

You have 3.42.

And you MIGHT still have a speed limiter.. Only one way to find out I know mine had one before i took it off. All Z's came with 150 speedos i beleive.

And yes 93 was the last year of Speed density

Not all Z28's came with 150 speedo's; you had to have the Z rated tires from the factory to get the 150 without the speed limiter set lower.

Yea it's one hell of a car! BUT HELL TO WORK ON!
you will have the 3:42's,and a MAF

And if the car makes it past 112mph, you dont have the speed limiter, cause usually 110-112ish is when the fuel cutoff hits.

I would change the Oil,Coolant, fuel filter, plugs and wires shortly after you buy the car
HAVE FUN

It really is a love-hate relationship with these cars. When something breaks and you have to work on the LT1 you want to blow it up because the engineers were probably smoking crack when designing on paticular items.

That all goes away when you get it back on the road and open it up on the highway with the TTops off on a nice day You will most likely get bitten by the mod bug which have both positive and negative results; lighter wallet, but faster car.

LT1 are awesome cars and are damn reliable, as long as you keep up with regular maintanance and don't beat on them too hard. You treat them well and they will do the same for you. Have fun and be safe.

Oh and yes, 94=MAF. M6=3.42.

Another thing. If you plan on doing plugs/wires anytime soon; do yourself a favor and just do headers at the same time. It will save you time and aggrivation and pick up some ponies at the same time.
