Guys got a few questions, I just bought a 94 z28, what kind of hp does it have stock and will it be a generation 1 or 2 LT-1. My goal is the 500 hp mark, where do I start. It is pretty much all stock except the exhaust, and a cold air intake.
Intake, long tubes, cat back, upgraded valve train, cam, heads, etc should get you there.

HP somewhere around 240-275 stock. You will be spending a lot of money to get to 500HP. Heads, cam, exhaust, gears, stall if A4 and maybe a supercharger, turbo and N20. Figure $5000 to $10000 to do it right.
You looking for flywheel HP then heads and cam well supported can get you close.
Rear wheel HP it is harder but doable with a full build, not going to be an NA daily driver though, streetable but not daily.
Either way Advanced Induction is the ticket to big power from LT1s.
By your gen 1 or gen 2 LT1 comment I assume you meant maybe LT4??? Both are gen 2 smallblocks. The LT4 while awesome in bench racing land is not so wonderful in the real world, forget about it.

Getting to 500 flywheel HP on a stock bottom end is quite doable and streetable.
Putting 500 to the wheels will require a bottom end than can handle some RPM and abuse.
You're also looking at a solid roller cam or a power adder.
I guess the real question here is, what kind of budget to you have to
work with and do you prefer N/A, N20, Turbo or Blower? You might want
to poke around the board and read about other people's builds, view members' websites,
watch some of their vids and read the comments. That might help you decide
what it is that gets your heart pumping. Things like streetability,
maintenance, power on demand, or having to refill a bottle all enter into the decision.
Personally, I prefer the N/A route on a forged stroker.
You can use a cam with manners that suite your needs and toss a shot of
N20 on top for power at the touch of a button. The extra cubes allow you
to handle more duration in the cam at a lower RPM.
Don't you have to run lower compression to make decent HP with a forced induction setup? I know this is true for Turbo's.. but even with a S/C.. aren't you limited to like 5 psi?
Heads and Cam are an easy way to get there. But you could get there with a power-adder as well.

Heads, cam, exhaust, gears, and a supercharger OR turbo OR N20. Just clearing it up for ya. All those mods with a supercharger and n20, you're looking at 600+.
