I have replaced my 95 lt1 with a 96 lt1 but the 96 has been sitting for a while it only had 20,000 miles on it. I switched the lt4 hot cam and roller rockers and car runs great but when i start it up it makes a tick till it warms up up then goes away so i believe that the lifter was compressed for such a long time that it takes a while for it to build up pressure but once shut off it does not hold. so my question is and i have done a search on it and have gotten mixed results WILL LS7 LIFTERS WORK WITH STOCK LENGTH PUSH RODS? So if anyone can help i would really like some info on this swap. thanks

 

no ones using ls7 lifters in lt1?

 

I've had a similar problem when i did my lt4 hot cam swap. The sound never went away and i used brand spankin new lifters. Then i pinpointed where it was coming from and switch back to my stockers in the spot and it still did it. The car all and all runs great and i know i have my rockers set right so i just leave alone and drive it. I havent had any problems thus far and its been about 10,000 miles.

 

How much pre-load adjustment are you adding after 0-Lash? Now that the engine has been run some, you could re-do the lifter adjustment and see if that helps the problem (simple and cheep).

i have re set the preload thinking that might be the problem still does it but only when its cold goes away when warm. and only on passenger side.
