New here- Opti question
New here- Opti question
Hi guys, I'm new here and have a quick question... Doing a GM opti install, does the engine have to be at TDC on the #1 cylinder when replacing the new optispark? Or, is it no matter where the engine is, as long as the dowel flats line up I"ll be ok? Thanks guys...
Re: New here- Opti question
It does not matter where the engine is at. If y ou have a 93-94 then the splined opti shaft will only slide in one way. If you have a 95-97 then you just need to make sure you put the dowl pin in the right slot and you will be fine.
Re: New here- Opti question
Make sure not to force it on.. The 93-4 are pretty easy to force on the wrong way.. Don't use the bolts to pull it on.. it should slide on with no gap between opti and block rather easily when it's in the correct position.
Re: New here- Opti question
One note: if you don't have the engine at #1 or #6 TDC (crank hub arrow at 12 o'clock), the optispark will not clear the crank hub (you won't be able to get the opti off/on. As far as indexing the opti to the cam, follow what was previously said for the year car you have.
